Avery does very well when she feeds herself. Tonight we put her plate on her chair tray, and she ate until she was done. Didn't pig out, didn't make too much of a mess, and didn't feed the dog.
She tends to get a little nutty when she is tired, and tonight was no exception. She started out with the pillows in the back room, and then brought them to the dining room with her banana. When she finally got around to eating the banana, it was somewhat worse for wear.

Past Adventures
Two weeks ago we went to the retail paradise known as Easton. We had lunch at Donato's Pizza, where Avery tried to get the water to pour out of her cup.
After that, we went shopping. Avery and I lost interest pretty quick, so went went outside to see the fire truck that was outside. She was very interested, and even said hi to the firemen, who didn't hear her. But she thought the big red trucks were cool.
Following the clothes shopping, we went to the big bookstore. Avery and her mother found a book to look at.
I was elsewhere when Avery found The Book of Her Dreams, a book shaped like a fire truck, and full of firetruck pictures. Two weeks later, she is still carrying it around. Here she is in her car seat showing daddy her book.

The Reluctant Railfan
Whenever Avery hears the train, she stops what she is doing and listens for a second, and then points and yells in the direction of the horns. So a recent Saturday when we heard the horn, I asked Avery if she wanted to go see the train, and she got very excited. So we piled in the car and drove down to the tracks. She was excited when she heard the train approach, but when it appeared she started to point at the car. She kept pointing, and started to look a little nervous. I asked her if she wanted to go home, and she turned waved good bye to the train. It was time to go.
