Self Feeding

Avery does very well when she feeds herself. Tonight we put her plate on her chair tray, and she ate until she was done. Didn't pig out, didn't make too much of a mess, and didn't feed the dog.

She tends to get a little nutty when she is tired, and tonight was no exception. She started out with the pillows in the back room, and then brought them to the dining room with her banana. When she finally got around to eating the banana, it was somewhat worse for wear.

Seasoned Broccoli

Avery has always liked broccoli, and one way to keep her patient (more or less) while making dinner, is to give her some broccoli. She will take a bite, wander around a bit, drop it on the floor, and eat a little more. She likes it seasoned.

Past Adventures

Two weeks ago we went to the retail paradise known as Easton. We had lunch at Donato's Pizza, where Avery tried to get the water to pour out of her cup.

After that, we went shopping. Avery and I lost interest pretty quick, so went went outside to see the fire truck that was outside. She was very interested, and even said hi to the firemen, who didn't hear her. But she thought the big red trucks were cool.

Following the clothes shopping, we went to the big bookstore. Avery and her mother found a book to look at.

I was elsewhere when Avery found The Book of Her Dreams, a book shaped like a fire truck, and full of firetruck pictures. Two weeks later, she is still carrying it around. Here she is in her car seat showing daddy her book.

The Reluctant Railfan

Whenever Avery hears the train, she stops what she is doing and listens for a second, and then points and yells in the direction of the horns. So a recent Saturday when we heard the horn, I asked Avery if she wanted to go see the train, and she got very excited. So we piled in the car and drove down to the tracks. She was excited when she heard the train approach, but when it appeared she started to point at the car. She kept pointing, and started to look a little nervous. I asked her if she wanted to go home, and she turned waved good bye to the train. It was time to go.

Box Ride

The diaper box in the previous post also doubled as a ride. I would put Avery in the box and spin her around, or pull her around the house. She enjoyed it.

Daddy Box

After a recent trip to get more diapers, I was fooling around in the front room, hiding in the box. Avery wanted to find out what was going on in the box, so she climbed in too.

Books

Avery has always liked reading. Earlier this month I caught her pulling most of the books out of her book basket to find the perfect read.

Odd

Over the course of several days, Avery marched around the house with three different foreign objects on her head. None of them were hats.

Cookies with Mom

Avery and I made cookies yesterday (Applesauce Oatmeal Raisin). Although it took a long time to make them Avery helped by pouring some of the ingredients into the bowl and sampling the batter.

New Years

For the new year Avery thought she would show the dog how much she loves her by giving her a kiss.

Grammie and Grandpa stopped by on New Years day for lunch and spent some time reading and playing with Avery.
