Awake and Happy

On the day after her 5th month birthday, Avery took a nap on her mothers lap. She awoke happy, as she usually does after a nap on a loved one's lap.

Grandma Comes to Visit

Grandma Crook came to visit this past weekend, and spent some time with Avery playing in the front room.

It took just a few minutes for Avery to get to know her grandmother again, and then it was all smiles again.

New Duds

It was cold on the 21st when we were on our way to grandpa and grandma's house, so Avery got all dressed up in her new coat. Thanks Aunt Lily!

Sitting Up and Hanging Out

02/17
Suddenly, Avery is sitting up. One day she was only sort of sitting up, and then the next she was sitting up. Learned overnight, basically.

02/19
Two days later, I photographed her in a relaxed position, hanging out in her swing. Won't be long until she is too big for her favorite perch.

Water

02/11
We forgot to post photos of Avery drinking water for the first time. She didn't seem to mind it. Didn't get to excited, but slurped down a bit and then started playing with the bottle. So now she takes a drink of water every night.

Sitting Up

Avery really enjoys sitting up in her chair now. She has even been able to sit up on the floor for short periods of time with no support. Sitting up was very sudden, one day she couldn't and the next day she could.

Happy Valentine's Day

Avery and I enjoyed another day off together, playing around the house and trying to avoid the cold. Happy Valentine's day to all.

Dragonfly Wrestling

We put Avery in her high chair while we made dinner this evening (02/13/07) and plopped her dragonfly in front of her. She waved it around, banged it on the table, and chewed on it. Finally she began to yell, probably because she couldn't fit the whole thing in her mouth. She got louder and louder until finally she threw the dragonfly on the floor.

Tasty Fingers

Avery has taken to sucking on her fingers, in any combination or variation.

Ever Changing

It is just amazing how much Avery is changing and all the things she has been learning lately. Her favorite things to do now is chew on her fingers and play with her toes.

She has even started to put her own pacifier in her month. She is not always successful but at least she is trying.

A few nights ago Avery woke me up at 2:30am by talking rather loudly to herself as she lay in her crib. I waited a few minutes just listening and then went to changer her and feed her. When I put her back to sleep in her crib I turned her music on and crawled back into bed. I layed in bed listening to the music hoping it would work when finally the music finished. It was quiet for a few moments untill Avery started humming to herself. I went back in to check on her and saw that her eyes were closed so I put the music back on and she fell right to sleep. I then realized that her humming was her way of singing herself to sleep.

Snow Day # 3

To everyone's surprise I was blessed with a third snow day today and have really enjoyed the extra time with Avery. We started the day off by playing in Avery's Jumperoo.

Chris stopped home to bring me lunch and to play with Avery.

Their play was interupted when something caught their eye on the television.

Snow Day

Since I had the day off from school because of the extreme cold, Avery and I hung out together and spent some quality mommy and Avery time together.

Chris stopped home for some lunch and kisses.

The day finished with a little R&R.

Avery was starting to get a little grumpy when suddenly...

her daddy called and that made it all better.

Measuring Up

Avery got her four month shots Friday, as well as the usual measuring and poking and prodding. She did well, although she didn't like the shots. She had a mild fever afterwards, but it wasn't too bad.

Turns out our backs hurt for a reason. She is 19 lbs, 10 oz, and 26 3/4 inches long.

First the Shoes...

and the socks are sure to follow. Avery wiggles and kicks her shoes always end up on the floor, often followed by her socks.
