Christmas Dress

Avery was dressed to the nines on Christmas in her new dress.

Merry Christmas!

Avery's first Christmas. At first she was a bit startled by the noise of the wrapping paper being torn, but seemed to get into it a little bit more. She likes her jump-a-roo, too, bouncing around in it and seeming to enjoy herself very much.



After the jump-a-roo, we tried out the discovery dome, and she liked that as well, wiggling and kicking, and enjoying the various bells and whistles.

Here Comes Santa

Hair?

Avery has discovered her hair, and last night tugged on it for a while, to the point where she was looking up at me on the verge of crying, wondering what was going on until I released her fingers from her hair. Then she started on her fingers, her hair a little rat's nest.

Standin' Tall

Avery likes to stand, usually on our knees. Sometimes she will be sitting in our lap and pop up to her feet. A few nights ago we stood her up in her crib, and draped her arms over the crib side. She stood for a few seconds and didn't seem to mind.

Pffft.

Mon Dieu!

When we went grocery shopping today, Megan put Avery in a beret;



I am not going to speculate what brought tears to Avery's eyes, because honestly, we have no idea. She got all bent out of shape, and two minutes later was fine. But not without a little pouting first.

The Calm Before the Storm

Avery and her mother were hanging out on the couch the other day, relaxin' before heading off to bed...



when all of a sudden a thunderous noise issued forth from her unders. So we picked her up to change her, and she spit up much of her dinner.



Oh well. Her bodily expulsions are at least fodder for war stories and tall tales.

Double Fistin'

Avery likes to put her hands in her mouth, to the point where she eschews the pacifier and goes straight to the fist. Some times she tries to fit both in her mouth at the same time, and then realizes how funny that is.

Happy Baby

With both Mommy and Daddy home Tuesday, Avery was a happy baby.

Winter Arrives

Megan went back to school last week, and Monday we all took a trip to Coshocton to visit. Avery got all bundled up to fight off the 16 degree chill. Then she took a nap in her car seat.

Swingin'

I put Avery in her swing this afternoon, and decided to take her picture. As you can see, she thought it was a wonderful idea.

Funny Mommy

Sometimes things strike Avery as very amusing, as the sudden transformation in these two photos attest. One moment barely hanging on to consciousness, one moment laughing at funny mommy.

Shots

Avery got her 2 month shots today, and didn't enjoy it very much. We didn't either, and it was made worse by the 45 minute wait in the exam room. Avery is normally a very happy baby in the morning, but after 45 minutes of laying around just before breakfast 2, anyone would be grumpy. And just as she got some food in her, the shot lady came in and we had to interrupt her.

She slept most of the day when we got home, and then Megan discovered she had a fever. But after a few doses of medicine (which she slurped up with vigor) she was feeling much better, with her colorful bandages on her sturdy little thighs.

Conversations with Avery

Avery has become very talkative of late, making all sorts of happy noises when she is in a good mood, and a wide range of reminders that she is hungry or wet, etc.

Happy Thanksgiving

At grandma and grandpa's house for Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving!

Smile

Avery is now able to smile back at you when she is happy. It melts my heart!

First Denim Dress

Avery is wearing her first denim dress thanks to her grandma pie. It is still a little big on her but she will grow into it quickly.

A Milestone

Avery took a bath Sunday night, and didn't cry even a little bit. The first time, and we are all very proud.

Working Out

We got Avery a gym thing, and she was so excited about it she fell asleep. But I am sure she will enjoy it once she attempts it use it when better rested.

A Six Month Sweater, Thank You Very Much

Supposedly this very lovely sweater given to my daughter by my dear mother is labeled '6 mo' which I would assume means 6 months. Since she is 7 weeks old on Tuesday, the label must be off.

21 inches long, 12 lb, 7 oz as of last Wednesday.

Babies Best Friend

Avery and Rosie get their picture taken together while Megan makes dinner. Roise is adjusting well although she is eager for any attention that is offered her way.

Wide Awake

It is always a pleasure to be able to hang out with Avery when she is wide awake. And despite how things may be going that particular day, she always seems to enjoy laying on her changing table. Maybe she likes pink.

Fighting Sleep

Avery doesn't always want to go to sleep, so she fights it as best as she can.

And despite her best efforts, always passes out after a good meal.

There is a school of thought that a crying baby should be left to cry it out, thereby becoming self-sufficient.

I much prefer a happy baby. And if it means I have to sit around all day holding her on my chest, so be it. After all, what could be better?

Hello Mr. Bear

After a visit with great grandpa, during which she scarcely batted an eye, Avery was much more interested to meet Mr. Bear during a short stay in her crib.
